Logistics

The networks required to move a product from innovative idea to trans-formative and successful in-country implementation.

All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.
— T. E. Lawrence

The Lodgepole Group provides the logistics, research, and regional knowledge to transition our investments from remote non-profit start-ups, to products with untapped market potential in the First World. We help companies and funds find unique opportunities to take innovative solutions first implemented in developing economies to market in the developed world.

We use our start-ups as a pipeline to test market viability of innovative new products. Whether you're looking for a new product or implementing a lean technology, The Lodgepole Group will give you the tools to make it a success.

WE'RE INVOLVED IN THE WORLD'S MOST INNOVATIVE AND GEOGRAPHICALLY REMOTE SOCIAL PROJECTS.

Sustainable Agriculture. Afghanistan

Social innovations from the developing world are increasingly becoming the precedent upon which the developed world is depending for future technology and product development. The Lodgepole Group is at the forefront of this movement, as we are on the ground across Central Asia implementing these solutions.

Mobile payment systems are one of the simplest, most effective, and safest ways to allow developing nations to transfer, hold, and use local currency. Roshan, Afghanistan's largest telecommunications company, has followed in the extremely successful footsteps of Safaricom in implementing M-Paisa, Afghanistan's first mobile money program. Erik Anderson, CEO and Founder of The Lodgepole Group, first cut his teeth on implementing this type of large-scale international program while working within Roshan's M-Paisa program in Kabul.

The Lodgepole Group is currently using M-Paisa as part of an investment package that includes the micro-financing of Coffee and Hemp as an alternative cash crop to Opium.

Artificial Glaciers. Baltistan

Using the same techniques he used to build some of the world's highest mountain roads, Mr. Chewang Norphel now builds artificial glaciers

These glaciers will capture and provide much of the water used to irrigate crops and satiate animals in remote villages in this arid region. An incredibly simple idea. The glaciers consist of a series of dams set at certain elevations that allows ice to melt piecemeal. Thus, ensuring a steady flow of water throughout the dry season.

Resource Conservation. Tajikistan

The high-mountain ecosystems that characterize the mountains of Central Asia are some of the most valuable and endangered in the world. These alpine steppes are constantly exposed to intense human pressure, leading to the destruction of habitats and natural resources. The Lodgepole group is working to ensure the sustainability and preservation of these beautiful places through education and a push toward Eco-Tourism as a viable economic solution to the region's unregulated resource markets.

Historic Preservation. India

Preserving the rock art of Ladakh is a means to  educate the world on the importance of preserving Ladakh's pre-Buddhist history. We work in cooperation with Tashi Dawa and the Ladakh University to disseminate educational materials and lead community events in the region.

Unfortunately, much of Ladakh's rock art has been defaced or completely destroyed due to a lack in understanding for the value of these historic places. Fortunately, Eco-Tourism is already a big business in Ladakh. This is great news for protecting this rock art. The demand to visit Ladakh is obviously proven, thus The Lodgepole Group aims to leverage this tourism into trips specifically tailored to visiting Ladakh's rock art. By building and leading these trips, The Lodgepole Group creates financial opportunities in the hospitality industry. This type of capital injection into Ladakh's remote villages will improve local infrastructure and diversify their economies.
